In order to provide support to those who have been affected by these recurring conflicts and to respond to their needs, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has established 12 Multi-purpose Community Centres (CCPs) in the provinces of North and South Kivu (Nord-Kivu and Sud-Kivu).
The municipality of Bipemba and the provincial revenue branch Mbuji Mayi are equipped with administrative buildings.

On Wednesday, 17 July 2013, tens of thousands attended the official handover of buildings which now house the administrative offices of the municipality of Bipemba and the provincial directorate of Mbuji Mayi, the capital of Kasai-Oriental.

Didi Bikawungu Bate, 34, was a farmer and fought alone to earn money and feed her eight children until the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through their Project to Support Local Decentralization and Development (PSLDD), joined various women’s associations in Béni Mbau (North-Kivu) in a Group of Women’s Associations (GWA) of which she became the chairwoman.

UNDP Executive Board welcomes appointment of Achim Steiner as new Administrator
The President of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today welcomed the appointment of Achim Steiner as the Organization’s new Administrator. Mr Steiner’s nomination for UNDP Administrator was forwarded by Secretary-General António Guterres to the General Assembly, which today confirmed him as the Administrator of UNDP for a term of four years.

An event centred on decentralization organized by the Governorate of the province of North Kivu with the support of the United Nations Development Programme was held on 9 and 10 June in Goma. It was an opportunity for stakeholders involved in decentralization on the ground to meet up.
Contextualizing the Sustainable Development Goals: The DRC Establishes Its Priorities and Targets
The Democratic Republic of the Congo has just completed its first national report which clearly establishes its targets and indicators prioritized with respect to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Deputy Prime Minister in Charge of the Postal Service and Telecommunications, Thomas Luhaka officially launched this national report contextualizing and prioritizing the SDGs in the DRC on Friday, 18 November in the presence of Ministers, Ambassadors, and delegates from the private sector and civil society
