The aim of the UNDP DRC's "Greening the Blue" program is to decrease carbon emissions and reduce environmental pollution, mainly through recycling the paper and cardboard used in their offices. Under this new initiative, UNDP staff are made aware of environmental issues, which enables them to have a hand in improving the city of Kinshasa.

New York, 25 November 2013- Every year at least two million women and girls are victims of human trafficking for prostitution, slavery and servitude. Up to 60 percent of women experience one form or another of physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) calls for renewed efforts to put an end to violence against women.

Kinshasa, Saturday 23 November 2013: Approximately 300 United Nations staff members and their families participated in a meeting organized by UN Cares at the Cercle français, where they were provided the latest updates on HIV/AIDS response and scientific developments, received Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) and committed to fight stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV (PLWH) in the workplace, and by extension, in their communities. Also on the agenda: play, games, quiz, music and kids activities.
